SACRAMENTO – Two lucky winners in California will be able to afford really fancy Halloween costumes now that they have won sizeable prizes in the Mega Millions game. Those tickets matched five of six numbers – missing only the Mega number – and are worth $153,925 each.
The winning tickets were sold at Villa Food Mart, located at 185 West Bullard Avenue in Clovis and Olympic Donuts, located at 1103 West Washington Boulevard in Montebello. The winning numbers on the ticket are 27, 45, 48, 54, 56 and the Mega number – the only number the ticket did not hit – was 2. No one matched all six numbers, and Tuesday’s jackpot is worth an estimated $28 million.
The California Lottery wants to remind winners to sign the back of their tickets, keep tickets in a safe place and contact Lottery officials or visit their local Lottery District Office as soon as possible. Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim prizes.
MEGA Millions is a multi-state game, played in California and 11 other states. Players pick five numbers from a field of 56 plus a Mega number from a field of 46. Draw times are Tuesdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. PST. Tickets are $1 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers. More than 95 cents of every Lottery dollar is returned to the community in the form of contributions to education, prizes and retail commissions. Since its inception in 1985, Lottery players have contributed nearly $21 billion to California schools out of total sales of more than $56 billion.
