SACRAMENTO – Aaron Crawford, a Sacramento resident, considers himself a good husband and usually does what his loving wife of 13 years asks. So, when she asked him to stop by the store on the way home, he did so and while there he purchased $5 worth of MEGA Millions tickets. That errand for his wife made him $425,673 richer after matching 5 out of 6 numbers in last night’s MEGA Millions drawing.
When contemplating why they won this prize, both Crawford and his wife attributed their luck to the fact that it was their daughter’s birthday. “My daughter says we won because it was her birthday! Who knows, maybe that is why we won!” said Crawford. When asked what he would like to do with the winnings, Crawford said, “Most of it will go into a retirement fund, we’re setting up college finds for our kids and now the trip to Mexico we already have planned will be a bit nicer!”
Crawford is not only a good husband, but a good employee, too. He works as a salesman for the TNT Fireworks Company. “We work with non-profit organizations across the state all year long selling fireworks, which are sold during the weeks prior to July 4th,” explained Crawford.
Crawford purchased his winning ticket at 7-Eleven located at 8499 Gerber Road in Sacramento. Players have another chance to win big money with tonight’s SuperLOTTO Plus jackpot now at $86 million or Friday night’s MEGA Millions jackpot at $325 million.
The California State Lottery contributes at least 34 cents of every dollar that players spend on Lottery products to public education and returns more than 50 percent of sales to players in the form of prizes. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $19 billion to California schools out of total sales of more than $52 billion. Retailers win too, earning $3.3 billion in compensation since 1985.
