Donations to Charities Will Be Up After "The Big Spin®" Show

SACRAMENTO - This week on the California Lottery’s Big Spin Show, two contestants had an opportunity to spin the biggest prize wheel in the world Together they won a total of $150,000. The show aired statewide Saturday, March 31, 2007.

"I started crying when I scratched my ticket and saw Spin-Spin-Spin," said Ruby McCully from Phelan.  She was even more excited when Lillian LaurelThe Big Spin wheel landed on $75,000! McCully would like to donate some of her winnings to her church, buy a mobile home and give money to her nine grandchildren for college.

Lillian Laurel, a customer service representative from Carson, also won $75,000! She outplayed nine other contestants in Aces High to have the chance to spin the big wheel. "I’m definitely donating to charity and maybe taking a small vacation," said Laurel.

Public education in California receives at least 34 cents of every dollar players spend on Lottery products. The California Lottery contributed a record $1.28 billion to public education in 2005-06 out of historic sales of $3.58 billion, the sixth year in a row the Lottery has provided more than $1 billion in supplemental funding for education. Since the Lottery began in 1985, it has contributed more than $18 billion to California schools.
