SACRAMENTO – The California State Lottery announced Donut Galore, owned by Lang & Chun Sor, has been named the California State Lottery’s 2006 “Retailer of the Year.”
“Through their excellent customer service, savvy business sense and community involvement, the Sors have achieved Lottery sales of more than $11.2 million since 1995,” said Acting Director Joan Borucki. “California’s schools have received more than $4 million from Donut Galore’s sales alone. This retailer should be as proud as I am of their accomplishments to their community and to California’s public schools.”
The Sors have been in business for 24 years and with the help of their daughter, they operate 24 hours a day, seven days a week, serving a family of loyal and valued customers. The Sors are not only strong promoters of lottery products, they also support the community with sponsorships of Chinese community events, the local little league other youth sports activities and they also contribute to the support of an outreach program helping troubled youth.
The “Retailer of the Year” Award is the most presitigious award bestowed annually by the California State Lottery to one of the more than 18,500 retailers in the Lottery’s network. The winner receives a cash bonus and, most importantly, a terminal with a gold label, announcing their new status as a Retailer of the Year.

The California Lottery contributed a record $1.28 billion to public education in 2005-06 out of historic sales of $3.58 billion, the sixth year in a row the Lottery has provided more than $1 billion in supplemental funding for education. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to California schools.
