SACRAMENTO – Not everyone has the talent to make it on American Idol™, but with the launch of the California Lottery’s American Idol Scratchers®, just about anyone has a shot to go all the way and find out in person who will be crowned the next American Idol.
In addition to the chance of winning up to $10,000 in cash prizes instantly, the newest addition to the California Lottery’s line of $2 Scratchers offers a second-chance drawing for VIP trips to the American Idol finale and exclusive American Idol merchandise.
One lucky player will win a VIP trip for two to the American Idol Grand Finale, where he or she will view LIVE the final two nights of the competition from their seats at the landmark Kodak Theatre. There they will be some of the lucky few to view in person the unveiling of the 2007 American Idol. In addition, the winner and their companion will stay in the heart of Hollywood for two nights at the stunning Renaissance Hotel and attend private receptions where American Idol celebrity sightings will make the experience truly unforgettable.
Ninety-one other winners will get the red-carpet treatment and experience a two-day Hollywood dream experience, leading to a private American Idol finale party located in the Kodak Theatre complex. After being escorted down Hollywood Boulevard’s “Walk of Fame” to the exclusive grand finale party, winners will be treated to memorable live performances or appearances from some of American Idol’s most popular contestants. All the while the anticipation will be building towards who will be revealed as the next American Idol.
Other second-chance draw contestants will win exclusive American Idol merchandise prize packs. Winners will be able to select from two prize packs unique merchandise ranging from American Idol leather jackets, to Idol wristwatches and baseball caps. This merchandise is available exclusively to winners of the California Lottery’s American Idol Scratchers second chance drawings.
Instant prize winners and second-chance draw contestants are not the only ones who will benefit from the new American Idol Scratchers. Public education receives at least 34 cents of every dollar players spend on Lottery products. The California Lottery contributed a record $1.28 billion to public education in 2005-06 out of historic sales of $3.58 billion, the sixth year in a row the Lottery has provided more than $1 billion in supplemental funding for education. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to California schools.
