SACRAMENTO -- One winning ticket won the October 18, 2006 SuperLOTTO Plus® jackpot of $45 million by matching all six numbers in last night's draw -- 7, 15, 23, 27, 44 and Mega Number 19. The player (or players) have not yet come forward. The winner has 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.
The ticket was sold at the Shell station located at 22295 Mulholland Highway in Calabasas. Sami Hadad, owner of the station, will receive a retailer bonus of approximately $225,000, or 1/2 of 1% of the jackpot, for selling the winning ticket. When asked what he would do with the bonus, Hadad said happily, “I’m going to pay off a new motor home I just purchased and contribute heavily to my daughter’s college fund.”
Los Angeles County has had 816 other players win the SuperLOTTO grand prize, totaling more than $3.2 billion in prizes since the game began. The largest of those winners was Patricia Frierson who won $91 million in 2003.
Public education receives at least 34 cents of every dollar players spend on Lottery products. The California Lottery contributed a record $1.28 billion to public education in 2005-06 out of historic sales of $3.58 billion, the sixth year in a row the Lottery has provided more than $1 billion in supplemental funding for education. Since its inception in 1985, the Lottery has contributed more than $18 billion to California schools.
SuperLOTTO Plus can be played at approximately 18,500 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLOTTO Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
