Trio of Fantasy 5 Dream Machine Contestants Scare Up Big Money

Yvonne MenchacaSACRAMENTO – Halloween is just around the corner and for the contestants of this week’s Big Spin® Show, it was all “treat” and no “trick” as they went home with over $297,000 in cash prizes.

Yvonne Menchaca of Sacramento certainly can afford lot of candy this Halloween with the $90,000 she won playing the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. “My daughter called me at work and read the Lottery notice to me over the phone. I screamed and my whole office found out too,” recalled Ms. Menchaca, who works for the Department of Motor Vehicles.  When asked about plans for her prize, she said she would share her windfall with her two daughters, pay bills and save for retirement.

Kelley Heldt, a chef from Palo Alto, cooked up a happy ending for himself by winning $85,000 from the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. A recent transplant from Hawaii, Mr. Heldt played Fantasy 5 while traveling to California for job interviews. “I just somehow knew that I’d win because I wasn’t surprised at all when I got the notice that my coupon had been drawn,” he said. Mr. Gladys PatinoHeldt plans to use his prize money to help pay for his relocation costs.

Un Lee, a clothing store clerk from Los Angeles, also played the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine and won $75,000. She’s such a dedicated fan of the Dream Machine that all her coupon envelopes are pre-addressed, Ms. Lee joked. With her prize, Ms. Lee plans to take a trip to Vegas and pay bills.

Gladys Lindo, a grandmother from Torrance, was the only contestant to go to The Big Spin wheel where she won $25,000. Ms. Lindo plans to use the money to travel. “I want to discover all of California,” she said.
