Different Paths to The Big Spin Wheel Lead to Big Prizes

Paul HoldenSACRAMENTO – The temperature may be cooling as autumn approaches, but The Big Spin® Show continues to heat things up with big cash prizes. In the show that aired statewide September 9, 2006, it was a tale of two men who took different paths to The Big Spin wheel and both coming up winners.

Paul Holden, of Gardena, won a direct trip to The Big Spin wheel by uncovering SPIN-SPIN-SPIN on one of his tickets. He characterized his appearance on the show and his win of $40,000 as the happy ending to a series of fortunate events. “I hadn’t played Big Spin Scratchers® in two years. One night, I had an urge to play so I bought some tickets. I won $25, used that money to buy some more tickets three nights later and one of those tickets had SPIN-SPIN-SPIN on it,” said Mr. Holden.  With his winnings, he plans to take care of his elderly mother and put money towards opening a laundry mat.

Jose TorresJosé Torres, of Ronhert Park, who also spun The Big Spin wheel, took a different route to his prize of $30,000. He outplayed nine other contestants in two rounds of elimination play in the Aces High game to get to The Big Spin wheel. “I’ve won twenty to thirty dollars before playing Crossword Scratchers® but nothing big like this,” he exclaimed. Mr. Torres plans to go back to school to fulfill his dream of becoming an engineer.

The show also paid tribute to the 100th California Lottery Hero in Education.  Doris Roberts, an Emmy-award winning actress best known for her role in Everybody Loves Raymond, honored Chef Michael Gomez for fighting child obesity with his healthy eating program for school children, Delight In Every Taste (DIET).
