Woman’s Hard Times End with $180,000 Windfall on The Big Spin®

Jeanette Narvaez

SACRAMENTO - Jeanette Narvaez, of San Jose, has had a hard year. Her car was always breaking down and worst of all, she recently had a death in her family. Her tough times turned into a $180,000 windfall, however, on The Big Spin® Show, making Jeanette Narvaez the big winner this week as over $362,000 in cash prizes were given away.

Having never played Scratchers® before, Jeanette Narvaez bought some tickets on a day when she was waiting for a tow truck after her car broke down on the way to visit a loved one’s memorial site. One of those tickets sent her to The Big Spin Show where she had to outplay nine other Aces High contestants for a chance to spin for $3 million. Narvaez’s turn of luck helped her survive two exciting rounds of elimination play with double tiebreakers and a landing on the triple slot for a $180,000 win. "I wouldn’t let anything stop me," said Narvaez. "My shoes were so uncomfortable that I had to borrow a pair from another contestant’s wife," she recalled. Narvaez intends to put her winnings towards a house and a car.

Sergio Garciasalas

The contestant whose wife loaned Jeanette Narvaez her shoes was a big winner himself. Sergio Garciasalas, a materials specialist from Los Banos, was one of three men taking a shot at $150,000 on the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine and won $65,000. Roy Moyer, a retired merchant mariner from Long Beach, walked away with $70,000 and plans to buy a sailboat to cruise to Mazatlan with his girlfriend. Florante Benitez, a retired U.S. postal worker from Bonita, won $25,000 and plans to travel to Europe.
