SACRAMENTO – The American Dream is expensive these days with the high cost of real estate, but two lucky men are closer to that dream courtesy of a big money weekend on The Big Spin® Show which gave away more than $162,000 in cash prizes. The show aired statewide Saturday, August 12, 2006.
Jesús Zendejas, a garage door installer from La Quinta, was spinning for the American Dream, a house and a car for his family, and wasn’t going to let anything spoil his moment in the sun. “The day I got the ticket, a bee stung me near my eye, swelling it up like a baseball. It didn’t bother me, though, because I knew I had a winning Big Spin ticket in my pocket,” he said before taking a direct trip to the Big Spin wheel for a shot at the $3 million top prize. Zendejas walked away with a $100,000 win, a nice down payment on his American Dream. “I took it easy on the Lottery, but I’ll be back for more,” he joked.
Another Jesús also had his eyes on the prize. Jesús Segura, a plumber from San Juan Capistrano, outplayed nine Aces High contestants to get to the Big Spin wheel, hoping to win money to put towards a house. “A friend introduced me to Scratchers®. I’d never played before but the second time I bought Big Spin Scratchers, I won,” he disclosed. After pocketing a $40,000 prize, Segura smiled and added, “Yeah, I’ll definitely continue to play Lottery games.”
