2006 2nd Quarter Press Releases: Article

04.21.2006
With TWO million dollar prizes left, you could be "The Next Millionaire"!!

As part of our 20th anniversary celebration, the California State Lottery unveiled a new, fun and exciting Scratchers® game, The Next Millionaire.  The Next Millionaire promises 15 instant-win prizes of $1,000,000 each, and five $1,000,000 prizes that will be won in second-chance drawings. That’s a total of 20 million-dollar winners.

So far, 14 lucky players have become instant millionaires just by scratching this distinctive ticket and four more lottery players have won through the second-chance drawings for a grand total of 18 new millionaires.  In order to participate in the second chance drawings, players must either send non-winning tickets to the Lottery or submit them electronically through the Lottery website.  From these entries, the lucky winners are selected and revealed during the weekly telecasts of The Big Spin Show®.

There is one remaining The Next Millionaire ticket with an instant prize and the final second-chance drawing for a  $1,000,000 prize will be conducted on June 13.  So players still have two chances to become the newest California millionaire; just like Fernando Menchaca who decided to stop for a soda after work only to become an instant winner, or like Amber McKinney who worked at a convenience store and purchased her winning ticket so she could clean up the counter space.  Where will the next winner come from?  With more than 18,000 lottery retailers, the possibilities are nearly endless, so don’t miss your chance to join the ranks of The Next Millionaire.

You can enter the second chance draw online at www.nextmillionaire.net.
