SACRAMENTO - In light of the largest Lottery jackpot in the United States, California Lottery officials are handing out helpful advice on this Easter weekend to make players’ lives a little easier.
"Try your best to plan ahead and buy tickets early," said Cathy Doyle Johnston, California State Lottery. "The closer it gets to the 7:45pm cut off time, the longer the lines will get and you may have to wait a while."
In addition to buying your tickets early, the Lottery also recommends:
- Remember to buy your tickets and immediately sign the back of them,
- Make copies of the fronts and backs of your tickets and put those copies in a safe place
- If you play in a group, have the "Group Captain" sign the back of the tickets and give copies of the tickets to all members of the group
- Check the winning numbers yourself.
Remember, winning numbers are available in many places such as the Lottery’s website, most daily newspapers and at all Lottery retailers.
With all MEGA Millions prizes combined, California has sold more than 9.4 million winning MEGA Millions tickets resulting in total winnings of $486 million.
