SACRAMENTO – Spring is here and that means tax day is right around the corner. One way to be sure you won’t have any tax woes is to win the California Lottery’s MEGA Millions jackpot of $189 million!
“Tickets only cost $1 and it only takes one ticket to win,” said Cathy Doyle Johnston, California State Lottery. “If you took your prize in annual payments, after Uncle Sam gets his cut, you would still have more than $100 million to spend on any dream you could imagine”.
Seven California players have won nearly $700,000 in the past week alone, but no one has yet to win the big jackpot. Since MEGA Millions began, there have been three MEGA Millions jackpots won in California, including the historic $315 million jackpot won on November 15, 2005, the largest ever in California Lottery history. With all prizes combined, California has sold more than 9.3 million winning MEGA Millions tickets resulting in total winnings of $485 million. California schools have benefited by more than $1 billion annually in supplemental funds raised by Californians through the sale of Lottery products.
