SACRAMENTO - The Big Spin® crowned its first $1 million winner of 2006 as California State Lottery players won a total of $1,052,500 on "The Big Spin®" show that aired statewide Saturday, June 10, 2006.
John Baldwin, an entrepreneur and inventor from Sutter, became the first $1 million winner in 2006 on The Big Spin. Baldwin has been having a great month, maybe his best ever, because on the day that he uncovered SPIN-SPIN-SPIN on his Big Spin Scratchers ticket, he found out that he had sold one of his inventions to the Republic of China. To say the least, Baldwin was shocked after the wheel came to rest on his prize, and afterwards, could only muster the words, "I can’t believe this happened." With his winnings, Baldwin plans to help buy new homes for his sons and spoil his grandchildren.
Anna Camacho, a certified nursing assistant from South El Monte, outplayed nine other Aces High contestants to spin the big wheel. She won $30,000 which she is going to use to pay for school.
