May Brings a Big Pay Day for Contestants on "The Big Spin®"

Raymond DiasSACRAMENTO - The month of May began with a bang as California State Lottery players won a total of $260,000 on "The Big Spin®" show that aired statewide Saturday, May 6, 2006.

Johnny MaldonandoIn this week’s Fantasy 5 Dream Machine there was just one contestant playing for the grand prize of $150,000. Chanan Mangat, a programmer from San Jose, wanted to walk away from the "Dream Machine" with enough to ensure that his three children will attend college. The $60,000 he won will definitely be put towards their college funds, as well as guarantee that his kids eat healthier than some students while in college.

Two groups of 10 contestants played Aces High this week, for the chance to win $3 million on the big wheel. Ramon Dias, an agricultural technician from Hanford, echoed the words of a famous actor and governor by assuring us, "I’ll be back," after he won $25,000 on wheel. We certainly hope so, and in the mean time Dias plans to take a trip to Hawaii. The biggest winner of the week was Johnny Maldonado, a retiree from San Bernadino who, thanks to landing on a triple space, won $120,000 on the big wheel. When asked what he planned to do with his impressive win, Maldonado said, "I’m going to take a trip." That much money should ensure that Maldonado and his wife enjoy tropical drinks with little umbrellas in them for a long time to come.
