Friday’s Jackpot Just Keeps Growing
SACRAMENTO - Interest in MEGA Millions has obviously increased among Californians as a dramatic increase in sales has enabled California State Lottery officials to announce that Friday’s jackpot has been raised to $212 million.
"Recently, the news has been filled with big jackpots and winners," said Mike Doyle, spokesperson for the California State Lottery. "Wouldn’t you love to be part of the winning?"
Since MEGA Millions began, there have been three MEGA Millions jackpots won in California, including the historic $315 million jackpot won on November 15, 2005. With all prizes combined, California has sold more than 7.1 million winning MEGA Millions tickets resulting in total winnings of $470 million. California schools receive at least 34% of all lottery sales and have benefited by more than $1 billion annually from the California State Lottery for the past five consecutive years.
