SACRAMENTO – What is luckier than the number 7? How about two of them? Lottery officials announced the SuperLOTTO Plus® jackpot for Wednesday, January 18, 2006 at $77 million.
Cash option or 26 annual payments? What a choice to make! A single jackpot winner of $77 million choosing annual payments would receive 26 annual payments with the first payment being approximately $1.925 and the 26th payment being more than $3.927 million before taxes. The estimated cash value would equal roughly half of the jackpot or $38.5 million, the amount the Lottery would invest to payout the jackpot prize over 26 years.
Retailers receive a bonus of ½ of 1% of the portion of the winning jackpot ticket that they sell. A retailer who sells a single winning $77 million ticket would receive a $385,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket.
Alcario Castellano of San Jose, California made Lottery history when he became the record-breaking highest individual jackpot winner of a $141 million SuperLOTTO Plus jackpot on June 23, 2001. He still holds that record today.
SuperLOTTO Plus can be played at approximately 18,000 retail business establishments around California. The SuperLOTTO Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players may purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
