CALIFORNIA HAS ITS 2ND MEGA MILLIONS JACKPOT WINNER -- WINNING TICKET SOLD IN WILMINGTON

SACRAMENTO – California State Lottery officials are excited to announce that California is on a lucky streak and has sold its 2nd MEGA Millions jackpot ticket!  Last night’s winning combination of 7, 8, 47, 51, 52 and the MEGA number 5 was sold at South Bay Liquor in Wilmington.  The $35 million jackpot prize will be shared with another jackpot winning ticket sold in Michigan.

If the winner chooses annual payments, they will receive equal payments of more than approximately $673,000 a year (before federal tax withholding) for the next 26 years.  A winner has the opportunity to choose the cash value of their jackpot prize within 60 days of the claim date.  The winning retailer location is South Bay Liquor, 1014 Wilmington Blvd, Wilmington, CA.  This retailer will receive a bonus of $87,500 for selling the winning ticket.  Winners have 180 days from the date of the draw to claim their prize.

On November 15, 2005, the California State Lottery made history when it sold the biggest cash prize in North American lottery history, $315 million MEGA Millions jackpot.  The ticket was sold in Anaheim.  A group of hospital workers called the “Lucky Seven” took the cash option and each will receive a lump sum payment of approximately $25 million (before federal withholding).  When asked how she felt on winning the Lottery, Kate Lyn Juergens, one of the “Lucky 7” who won $315 million said with a huge smile, “how can you possibly explain how great it feels to win $315 million!”  Another one of the “Lucky 7” Jennifer Habib said, “you can’t win if you don’t play.”
