SACRAMENTO – The California State Lottery announced Allan’s Wine & Lotto, owned by Touni and Nick Assad has been named the California State Lottery’s 2005 “Retailer of the Year.” A special ceremony will be held at Allan’s Wine & Lotto, 2521 Ventura Rd., Port Hueneme, CA 93041 on Wednesday, November 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m.
“The results of their enthusiasm and originality are seen in Lottery sales of more than $7.8 million since 2002,” said Acting Director Melissa Meith. “Through their efforts, California’s schools have received over $2.6 million.” The “Retailer of the Year” Award is the most presitigious award bestowed annually by the California State Lottery to one of the more than 18,000 retailers in the Lottery’s network.
Touni Assad purchased the store in February of 2002 and his brother, Nick runs the store. In three years the Assads pushed Lottery sales up from an exciting $34,000 a week to over $45,000 a week. The Assads are not only strong promoters of lottery products, they also support the community with contributions to Boy’s and Girl’s Club of America and local police department youth groups and neighborhood improvement programs.
Not only is this retailer a good one, it is also the “luckiest” location to date in the Lottery’s network of retailers. This location (under the previous owners) has sold six winning jackpot tickets and the Assads look forward to many more winners now that they own this lucky location!
