SACRAMENTO – Fourteen California Lottery players from across the state were excited to win a total of $322,500 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, December 3, 2005.
Joe Brucelas a longshoreman from San Pedro was the first contestant on this week’s show to win at the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.” Brucelas was overwhelmed after he won $85,000! “I’m going to take my whole family, a group of 19 people, to Hawaii,” said Brucelas. He bought his tickets at Mr. C’s Liquor in San Pedro.
Continuing the excitement at the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” was Larry Vellas, a retiree from Upland who won $65,000. “Being on a television show was an awesome experience,” said Vellas. He purchased his tickets at Mark’s Liquor in Hesperia.
Wrapping up the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” excitement was Fred Abbey from Los Angeles who won $40,000. “I had a great time! I plan to buy a plasma television and pay some bills,” said Abbey. He purchased his tickets at Van’s Market in Los Angeles.
Layla Mijares, a realtor from Winters was the
contestant who won the opportunity to spin the wheel from the “Aces High” round. Ms. Mijares, who bought her Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Town & Country, spun the wheel for $50,000. “This is great! I didn’t expect to win this much money. Now I can use these winnings towards a nice vacation,” said Mijares.
Ending the show was Tony Maghami, a computer engineer from Sunnyvale who had his mother, Mahin Kashani spin the wheel in his place. Ms. Kashani won her son $60,000. Maghami, who purchased his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Bonfare Market in Milpitas, uncovered Spin-Spin-Spin which earned him a direct trip to the wheel. “I’m happy that my mother had lots of fun. She really enjoyed the whole experience,” said Maghami.
