Contestants Win a Total of $187,500 on “The Big Spin®” Show

Gail DurbianoSACRAMENTO – California State Lottery players were excited to win a total of $187,500 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, November 19, 2005.

Gail Durbiano, a groundskeeper from Santa Barbara was the first contestant on this week’s show to win at the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.”  Ms. Durbiano won $70,000 and said, “This is wonderful! I’m going to split my winnings with my friend that bought me the tickets.”  Her friend purchased the Fantasy 5 tickets at 7-Eleven in Santa Barbara.

Continuing the excitement at the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” was Kay Silva, a retiree from Livermore, who won $25,000.  “I’m going to use this money to travel to Massachusetts to visit my sisters,” said Silva.  She purchased her tickets at Safeway in Livermore.

Wrapping up the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” excitement was Anna Rangel from Covina who had her son, Ernest Rangel Jr., play on her behalf.  Ernest Rangel Jr. won his mother $10,000.  “We had a nice time! The whole experience was fun,” said Ms. Rangel.  She purchased her tickets at Dollar City in Fontana.

Placido VargasThe contestant that won the opportunity to spin the wheel from the “Aces High” round was Ernest Dominguez, a mechanic from Whittier.  Dominguez, who bought his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Industry Food Mart, spun the wheel for $30,000.  “I’m going to use this money for my children’s college education,” said Dominguez.

Closing the show was Placido Vargas, a construction worker from Los Angeles who purchased a Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at T & A Seafood Market and uncovered Spin-Spin-Spin when he scratched it.  After spinning the largest lottery wheel in the world, Vargas won $30,000, and said, “I plan to share my winnings with my family.”
