SACRAMENTO – California State Lottery players were excited to win a total of $3,170,000 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, November 5, 2005.
From the first group of ten contestants to play “Aces High,” Trica Barnett from Hawthorne was the lucky winner who moved on to the wheel and struck it BIG! The fun began when Ms. Barnett spun the wheel and on her first spin struck a TRIPLE spoke. Then, as luck had it, on her second spin, the ball landed in the $1 million slot…making her California’s latest millionaire with a $3 million win! Barnett said, “This is shocking! I can’t believe it, this feels like a dream!” Barnett is splitting the prize money with her Dad and buying a house and a new truck.
When ten more “Aces High” contestants competed, Gilberto Molina from San Francisco emerged victorious with an opportunity to spin the wheel. Molina, who bought his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Cadillac Market, spun the wheel for $50,000 and said, “The experience was exciting and fun! I didn’t expect to win this much.”
The sole “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” player was Phillip Smolarek, a retiree from Torrance, who was happy to win $75,000. Smolarek, who bought his Fantasy 5 tickets at Three Kings Liquor in Torrance, said, “This is great! Now I can afford to buy a new car.”
