SACRAMENTO – How would you spend $200 million? The largest jackpot ever available to California State Lottery players hit the $200 million mark when no one matched the MEGA Millions numbers on Friday night. The $200 million jackpot is the largest prize in the California State Lottery’s 20 year history and Californians can certainly take a break this weekend to entertain the thought of how to spend it or give it away.
No player within the twelve MEGA Millions states selected the winning combination of numbers (15, 28,43,51,52, and MEGA number 11) from Friday night’s draw. However, thousands of Californians did win prizes: 7 players won more than $70,210 matching 4 numbers plus the MEGA number. “In total, 131,077 tickets won prizes ranging from one dollar to $10,030”, said Norma Minas Public Information Officer for the California State Lottery.
A lucky player who wins $200 million, would receive equal payments of approximately $7.6 million a year (before taxes) for the next 26 years or the cash option would result in a prize higher than $100 million before taxes. A retailer who sells a winning ticket worth $200 million would receive a bonus of one million dollars (the highest bonus available) for selling the winning ticket.
