Bakersfield Man Celebrates Winning $1 Million On “The Big Spin®” Show

Jose HernandezSACRAMENTO – California Lottery players were excited to win a total of $1,110,000 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, September 10, 2005.

From the first group of ten contestants to play “Aces High,” Jose Hernandez, a truck driver from Bakersfield won the opportunity to spin the wheel.  Hernandez spun the wheel for $1,000,000 and said, “I’m totally shocked! I didn’t expect to win this much money!”  Hernandez plans to buy a house and open a small business with his winnings.  He purchased his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Frind’s Liquor in Lindsay. 

James QuinnWhen ten more “Aces High” contestants competed, Luis Chavarria, a customer service representative from Santa Ana emerged victorious with an opportunity to spin the wheel.  Chavarria, who bought his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at 7-Eleven, spun the wheel for $25,000 and said, “I plan to pay my college tuition with my winnings.”

The sole “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” player was James Quinn, a retiree from Pomona, who was happy to win $40,000.  Quinn, who bought his Fantasy 5 tickets at Brothers Market in Pomona, said, “I’m going use my winnings towards a nice trip to Las Vegas.”
