SACRAMENTO – “The Big Spin®” show aired Saturday, April 9, 2005 and featured Lydia Stack of San Francisco who received the Lottery’s “Exceptional Educator” award from Assemblymember Mark Leno of San Francisco.
A veteran teacher of 33 years, Lydia Stack currently uses her vast experience to lead the student “screening and assessment center” for the San Francisco Unified School District. With Ms. Stack at the helm, each student that passes through her doors is ensured a comprehensive education, behavior, and/or speech and language assessment to determine their special needs. Through these assessments, Ms. Stack and her staff begin the crucial process to pinpoint the causes that impede each student’s educational performance.
Whether it’s a learning disability or a language disorder, once the student’s obstacle is identified, Ms. Stack’s team addresses the problem by implementing an effective individual education program that is custom-fit for that student. Through this process, no student is overlooked and each one gets the special attention they need to succeed in school and in turn, be successful in life.
The California Lottery’s “Exceptional Educator” award has been presented on “The Big Spin®” television show since April of 2001. The Lottery enlists legislators and state officials to present these awards which recognize outstanding teachers whose extraordinary efforts help California students to succeed.
