California Joins Nation’s Largest Lottery Game as the 12th State and Hosts Live Draw Event at Paramount Studios June 24.

WHAT:	Carrie Underwood, the newest American Idol, will help the California Lottery roll out the red carpet for MEGA Millions by supporting the state’s first live draw and announcement of the winning numbers during a live broadcast in all 12 MEGA Millions states.

WHO:	Born and raised in Checotah, Oklahoma, Carrie Underwood is no longer a small-town girl, having recently defeated more than 100,000 contestants to win the “American Idol” competition. The 21-year old will headline the American Idols Live tour beginning in July.
BACKGROUND:	California is the 12th state to join MEGA Millions, along with Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Known for its mega-sized jackpots, MEGA Millions holds the North American record for the most colossal jackpot ever won at $363 million. The first MEGA Millions ticket was sold in August 1996.
