Two Lucky Californians Win More Than $500,000 in Second Tier Prizes
SACRAMENTO, June 29, 2005 — California’s newest game kicked-off last Wednesday when MEGA Millions fever swept the state. On June 22, 2005, California became the twelfth state to join the MEGA Millions multi-state lottery game. Californians stepped up to the plate purchasing a record breaking $2.4 million in tickets on that first day of sales. “MEGA Millions winners, and there were 243,098 of them, won over $1.5 million in prize money in the first week of sales,” said Acting Director Chon Gutierrez. “The excitement continues to build as the MEGA Millions jackpot prize grows!”
The MEGA Millions jackpot prize is currently an estimated $63 million, making it the largest jackpot prize available in the nation. “Although the jackpot prize continues to grow, we have had two second tier prize winners from California who have won over half a million dollars in our first two draws of MEGA Millions alone,” said Gutierrez. Supattra Supatanasinkasem won $290,411 and claimed her winning ticket for California’s MEGA Millions game. The winning numbers were 14, 43, 44, 50, 56, and MEGA 7. Supatanasinkasem purchased her ticket at W.C.’s Liquor in Pico Rivera. A second winner from Tuesday, June 28 matched the winning numbers 2, 20, 37, 43, 46, and MEGA 4. That ticket, which has yet to be claimed, is worth $211,307 and was purchased at Longs Drugs in La Habra.
MEGA Millions can be played at approximately 18,000 retail business establishments around California. The MEGA Millions draw takes place each Tuesday and Friday night and can be viewed on local stations. Players may purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
