LOTTERY COMMISSION TO HOLD MEETING IN SACRAMENTO Lottery Director to Recommend California Joining Powerball or Mega Millions

SACRAMENTO, February 4, 2005 -- The California State Lottery Commission will hold a public meeting at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 8, 2005, at the California Lottery Headquarters Building located at 600 North 10th Street in Sacramento, California.

Chon Gutierrez, Interim Director of the California State Lottery, will recommend moving forward with a multi-state lottery game and will recommend at the Commission Meeting which multi-state game California should join. California has been considering joining a multi-state lottery game for over a year. The Lottery included exploring joining a multi-state game in its 2004/05 Business Plan and the California Performance Review also recommended that “the California Lottery should determine which multi-state lottery is best for California and take the necessary steps to join it.”

Members of the public are invited. Persons needing reasonable accommodation or wishing to address the Commission may sign up in advance by calling Commission Assistant Paula Urbani at (916) 323-0403 by 4 p.m., February 7, 2005.
