SACRAMENTO – January 18, 2005 - - Lottery winner plans to use some of his winnings to help victims of the tsunami!
After coming down from his “shock” of winning the Lottery, Colin McLean, a resident from Orange County comes forward to claim his winning SuperLOTTO Plus ticket from Wednesday’s, January 12, 2005 SuperLOTTO Plus draw.
While still very excited about winning the Lottery, Colin plans on staying grounded and using some of his winnings to help victims from the tsunami. “With everything going on in the world, I think it is inappropriate to gain notoriety for this (winning the Lottery), I feel very blessed, and sense that God has given me an opportunity that very few people receive. I don’t want to lose sight of what’s important in life…” said Colin. “Winning a lottery may be newsworthy for the moment, but it is pale in comparison to the far more important issues that face our nation, the world and our society today.”
Colin will receive 26 graduated annual payments beginning with his first payment of $2,025,000 and his final payment which will be in the amount of $4,131,000 (before federal tax withholdings). The winning ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven located at 4427 E. Chapman Avenue, in Orange. The retailer will receive $405,000 as a bonus for selling the winning ticket.
