SUPERLOTTO PLUS JACKPOT REACHES $81 MILLION
Largest Single State Lottery Prize in the Nation

SACRAMENTO, January 12, 2005 -- Lottery officials announced SuperLOTTO Plus® jackpot for the drawing tonight, Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at $81 million.

A jackpot of $81 million can be a dream come true for those who love cars. On August 28, 2004 Diane Adams, Walter Tracy and George Szabo split a $100 million prize. Each winner received $33.3 million. One of those winners reported that after helping out their family they purchased three new cars they’d always dreamt of owning… a Lamborghini, a Mercedes and a Ferrari.

Dan Lattimore who won $13 million in 1995 said, “Some people are clothes horses…I’m a car horse, so I own four cars. I’ve always wanted a Porsche and I recently bought one.” Lattimore commented that the new Porsche is in addition to his two Mercedes cars and pick-up truck he uses to work around his home. Pat Frierson who won $91 million in 2003 bought her dream blue corvette directly from the factory in Detroit and had the car shipped to her home in California. Another great story includes an $88 million winner who split her winnings with 13 Starbucks co-workers. Mary Champagne was told by her financial advisor to “go out and spend some money!” Mary decided on a new BMW… “It’s the smoothest ride I’ve ever had. I love my car.”

A single jackpot winner of $81 million choosing annual payments would receive 26 annual payments with the first payment being more than $2 million and the 26th payment being more than $4.1 million before federal withholding. The estimated cash value would equal roughly half of the jackpot or $40.5 million, the amount the Lottery would invest to payout the jackpot prize over 26 years.

California education and businesses will benefit as well. A retailer who sells a single winning $81 million ticket would receive a $405,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket and California's public schools will receive more than $50 million from the draw sales associated with this jackpot.

SuperLOTTO Plus can be played at approximately 18,000 retail business establishments around California. The SuperLOTTO Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players may purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
