Contestants on “The Big Spin®” Win More Than $200,000

gloriaSACRAMENTO – California Lottery players from across the state won a total of $202,500 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, September 4, 2004.

Michael Sumners, an emergency medical technician from Santa Ana, was the first contestant on this week’s show to play “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.”  Mr. Sumners, who won $25,000, purchased his ticket at Mike’s Arco #2 in Garden Grove, and said, “I want to go back to school and study nursing.”

Gloria Martinez, a semi-retired resident from Littlerock, was next at the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.”  Ms. Martinez, who won $55,000, purchased her ticket at Primm Valley Lotto Store in Nipton, and said, “First I want to make a few donations, buy a gas economizer car, and then take a couple of trips, starting with a cruise to Alaska.”

jorgeFinally, Jorge Velez, a hotel worker from Huntington Park, was the last contestant at the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.”  Mr. Velez, who won $75,000, purchased his ticket at Superior Super Warehouse #107 in Huntington Park, and said, “I want to fix my house and take a vacation to Florida,” he continued, “my grandkids want to know how much money I am going to give them.”

From the “Aces High” round, John Conley, a Moreno Valley resident won the right to spin the wheel.  Mr. Conley, who bought his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Smitty’s Smoke House in Moreno Valley, spun the wheel for $25,000!  “I think I’ll go to Disneyland or take a Caribbean cruise,” said Conley.
