SACRAMENTO – California Lottery players from across the state won a total of $192,500 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, August 28, 2004.
Linda Martinez, a medical center employee from Bakersfield, purchased her Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Niles Fastrip in San Diego and uncovered Spin-Spin-Spin when she scratched it. After spinning the largest lottery wheel in the world, Ms. Martinez won $75,000, and said, “It was exciting to spin the wheel but I’m more excited about going on a nice vacation with my winnings.”
Araxi Mikaelian, a homemaker from San Diego, was the only contestant on this week’s show to play “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.” Ms. Mikaelian, who won $65,000, purchased her ticket at Junior Liquor in San Diego, and said, “This is great! I can now finish remodeling my kitchen and travel to Armenia.”
From the “Aces High” round, Linda Thurston, an administrator for a non-profit agency from Alameda won the right to spin the wheel. Ms. Thurston, who bought her Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Bay Isle Wine & Spirits in Alameda, spun the wheel for $30,000! “The whole Hollywood experience was great,” said Thurston.
