SACRAMENTO – Twenty-one California Lottery players from across the state combined their luck to win $240,000 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, July 10, 2004.
From the first group of ten contestants to play “Aces High,” Evelyn Smith from Pinedale won the right to spin the wheel. The homemaker spun the wheel for $100,000 and said, “Spinning the wheel was a blast!” Smith plans to buy a new house and truck for her husband. Smith purchased her Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Pinedale Liquor in Pinedale.
When ten more “Aces High” contestants competed, John Hall, a maintenance supervisor from Lincoln emerged victorious. Hall, who bought his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Raley’s in Loomis, spun the wheel for $25,000 and said, “I plan to share my winnings with my family.”
The only player to challenge the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” was Sonia Yap, a retiree from Fremont. Yap plays Fantasy 5 at Union Landing Shell in Union City. “I plan to travel to Europe,” she said after winning $70,000.
