SACRAMENTO – Twenty-one California Lottery players from across the state combine their luck to win $195,000 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, June 12, 2004.
The only player to challenge the “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” was Don Jackson from Gardena. Jackson plays Fantasy 5 at Marty’s Liquorama in Williams. “I plan to pay off bills and donate to charity,” he said after winning $75,000.
From the first group of ten to play “Aces High,” Jacqueline Melendez from Monterey Park won the right to spin the wheel. The pastry chef spun the wheel for $50,000 and said, “I never thought I would get to spin the wheel.” After buying a new car, paying off her debt and helping her family with her winnings, Melendez will probably still shop at Old Gold Liquor & Food Store in Victorville where she bought her lucky ticket.
When ten more “Aces High” contestants competed, Maria Zamora, a disabled services employee from Escondido emerged victorious. Zamora, who bought her Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Price Mission Liquor in Escondido, spun the wheel for $25,000. Zamora plans to use her winnings for her children’s education.
