SACRAMENTO – California Lottery players from across the state won a total of $387,500 on “The Big Spin®” show that aired Saturday, June 5, 2004.
Ted McLelland, a truck driver from South Lake Tahoe, purchased his Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Kings Liquor in South Lake Tahoe and uncovered Spin-Spin-Spin when he scratched it. After spinning the largest lottery wheel in the world and winning $180,000, McLelland said, “I’m going to retire.”
Margaret Tajiri from Los Angeles and Todd Lindeman of San Jose were the two finalists from round one of the “Aces High” game. In round two, Tajiri won a chance to spin the wheel, while Lindeman won $5,000. Tajiri, who bought her Big Spin Scratchers® ticket at Barstow Station Ice Cream in Barstow, spun the wheel for $100,000! Tajiri said, “I’m going to take my family on a trip to Japan with my winnings.”
Marilyn Thunelius, a homemaker from San Diego, was the only contestant on this week’s show to play “Fantasy 5 Dream Machine” and won $85,000. Thunelius, who purchased her ticket at Skyway Market Liquor in San Diego, said, “I’m going to take my parents on a trip to the Philippines!”
