Assemblymember Gloria Negrete McLeod Presents “Exceptional Educator” Award to Chino Teacher
SACRAMENTO – “The Big Spin®” show airs this Saturday, May 1, 2004 and features Cathlene Gould of Chino who will receive the Lottery’s “Exceptional Educator” Award from Assemblymember Gloria Negrete McLeod. Ms. Gould has served in the Chino Valley Unified School District for more than a quarter of a century. She is known best for her 22 years of outstanding work with the kindergartners at El Rancho Elementary in Chino.
Because of her dedication and willingness to address the special needs of each student, Ms. Gould ensures that no child is left behind. She has also helped initiate the “100 Book Club” for the kindergartners. This program is in its 15th year and has proven to be successful at instilling the importance of reading through active student/parent participation. As a result of her hard work, she was honored with the PTA’s Golden Apple Award.
The California Lottery’s “Exceptional Educator” Award has been presented on “The Big Spin®” television show since April of 2001. The Lottery enlists legislators to present these awards which recognize outstanding teachers whose extraordinary efforts help California students to succeed.
In 2003 the California Lottery contributed $1 billion to public schools for the third consecutive year and is on course to meet this goal for a fourth consecutive year.
