Assemblymember Gene Mullin Presents "Exceptional Educator" Award to Daly City Teacher

SACRAMENTO – "The Big Spin®" Show, airing this Saturday, January 3, 2004, will feature Assemblymember Gene Mullin who will present the Lottery’s "Exceptional Educator" Award to Diane Levy from Daly City.

Ms. Levy is an exceptional third grade teacher at Bayshore Elementary School in Daly City whose commitment to students spans nearly 20 years. She is known for her high expectations for her students and for her resourcefulness in creating successful lesson plans, like integrating art and mathematics.

Ms. Levy remains very active in the academic lives of her students by coordinating many school activities including the school’s Science Fair and Earth Day, participating in special school committees, as well as being involved in leadership teams. She also spearheads a school-wide mural project called "Our Magical Universe." This mural provides students an opportunity to express their cultural experience with others in the Bayshore student body.

The California Lottery’s distinguished "Exceptional Educator" Award has been presented on "The Big Spin®" television show since April of 2001. The Lottery enlists various Legislators to present these awards which recognize the outstanding teachers whose extraordinary efforts help California students to succeed.

In 2003 the California Lottery contributed $1 billion to public education, for the third consecutive year.
