California Lottery Kicks-Off Fantasy 5 "Crazy Cash" Weeks -- Win Up To $500,000 For the Next Three Weeks

The California Lottery kicks-off Fantasy 5 "Crazy Cash" Weeks this week giving Fantasy 5 top prize winners a chance to win an extra $500,000 each week from September 14 through October 4, 2003. The $500,000 is an additional prize that will be added to one Fantasy 5 top prize each week during the promotion period.

The serial numbers from the winning Fantasy 5 top prize tickets will be put in a special drawing each week (Sun - Sat). One winner will be drawn each week to win the extra $500,000. There will be a total of 3 winners.

The odds will be based on the number of winners of the Fantasy 5 top prize winners each week. The first drawing will be held Monday, September 22, 2003, the second drawing will be held on Monday, September 29, 2003 and the final drawing will be held on Monday, October 6, 2003.

Winners have up to 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim their prizes. In the event that no one claims the prize, alternate winners will be drawn. Retail locations selling the winning Fantasy 5 tickets will receive one half of one percent of $500,000 and one half of one percent of the top prize. Fantasy 5 players buying five plays on one ticket also receive a coupon that may win them an opportunity to play the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine on "The Big Spin" show.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 retail locations statewide. During Fiscal Year 2001/2002, the Lottery provided 51.9 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34.9 percent to public schools and 13.2 percent for administrative expenses, which included 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $14 billion for public schools. The Lottery’s contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the State’s total education budget.
