California Lottery Conducts "Big Spin Sunday" Sweepstakes Shows at County Fairs, Winners Get a Chance at $10,000 and a Suzuki ATV

For the first time in its history, the California Lottery will conduct "Big Spin Sunday" Sweepstakes shows at some of California's County Fairs. Fairgoers will have a chance to win prizes by spinning "The Big Spin" prize wheel, or playing the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. The top winners from those games will win 100 Big Spin Scratchers tickets and an American Express card worth $500 to cover travel to the California State Fair in Sacramento for the finals. At the California State Fair, contestants will compete for a chance at a prize pack of $10,000 and a Suzuki ATV.

"We're very excited to give our players another way to win," said Joan Wilson, CEO of the California Lottery. "I can't think of a better way to end the summer than to award one of our players with $10,000 and an ATV."

To enter, county fairgoers 18 years or older will receive a "Big Spin Sunday" Sweepstakes ticket which they will fill out and put into a Big Spin barrel. Tickets will be drawn from the barrel each day and those contestants will win 25 Big Spin Scratchers tickets, a California Lottery T-shirt, hat and a pass to return on Sunday to spin the wheel or play the Dream Machine. Contestants playing these games will get points depending on which spoke the wheel lands on or how many slots they fill on the Dream Machine. The one contestant from each game who gets the most points will move on to the finals at the California State Fair on Labor Day, September 1, 2003.

The California Lottery will conduct "Big Spin Sunday" Sweepstakes shows at the following County Fairs:

7/2-7/6 Marin County Fair
7/9-7/13 Santa Barbara County Fair
8/6-8/10 Nevada County Fair
8/7-8/17 Humboldt County Fair
8/15-9/1 California State Fair

With at least 34% of all Lottery sales going to education, California's schools have received over $14 billion from 34% of Lottery sales since 1985.
