California Lottery Announces FCB/San Francisco as Apparent Successful Bidder for General Market Advertising Contract

SACRAMENTO -- The California Lottery today announced the selection of Foote, Cone and Belding - San Francisco as the "apparent successful bidder" as its general market advertising agency. The contract was previously held by Grey Worldwide.

This contract is for 5 years with an option to extend for one additional year and it is worth up to $125 million. The award of this contract will be brought before the California Lottery Commission on August 16, 2002.

"The California Lottery is extremely pleased at the opportunity to build a partnership with FCB to ultimately increase lottery sales and contributions to public schools in California. During the RFP process, this agency demonstrated excellent strategic and creative talents," said Jim Hasegawa, Director of Marketing. "At the same time, the Lottery wants to acknowledge the excellent work Grey Advertising has done during its 5-year tenure. During those years, annual lottery sales have increased a total of $800 million."
