PRIMM VALLEY LOTTO STORE TO RECEIVE LOTTERY'S TOP AWARD
SACRAMENTO --Primm Valley LOTTO Store at the California/Nevada border is the California Lottery's 2001 Retailer of the Year. California Lottery Director Joan Wilson will present the Primm Valley LOTTO Store representative from the Primmadonna Corp, a subsidiary of MGM and store Manager Peggy Blomstedt with the Lottery's highest retailer award. The presentation will take place on Wednesday, November 14, 2001 at 11:30 a.m. The award ceremony will take place at Primm Valley LOTTO Store located at 1925 S Pacific Avenue in Baker, California.
The Retailer of the Year is chosen from among the 11 previous Retailer of the Month winners and is given annually to one of the Lottery's more than 18,000 retailers. Primm Valley LOTTO Store had a sales average of more than $110,000 per week during the 2000-2001 fiscal year and total sales exceeding $6.8 million for the fiscal year. Primm Valley LOTTO sales have contributed more than $2.4 million to education and the store is the Lottery's top selling retailer.
"Primm Valley LOTTO Store has ranked as a top retailer through solid product sales, enthusiasm and a willingness to accommodate players," said Joan Wilson Lottery Director. "This popular retailer has several terminals to keep up with its brisk sales and during the SuperLotto Plus jackpot last June customers had to wait up to six hours to buy a ticket! The California Lottery is proud to announce Primm Valley LOTTO Store as Retailer of the Year."
The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide, and through its supplier-vendor network, provides nearly 6,400 jobs for Californians. By law, the Lottery is required to provide at least 50 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 16 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.5 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $13 billion for public schools.
