SACRAMENTO - This week's taping of the California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show revisits some of the most memorable contestants of the Big Spin® 2000 show. In addition, the next Extravaganza 2000 winner will be announced. The show is scheduled to air Saturday, December 30, 2000, in twelve television markets statewide.
Several million dollar winners are highlighted on this show including many who have appeared in the last year: Kenny Romero of Rosamond , Maria Cervantes of Brawley, Folsom resident Denise Hamma, Mitzi Gabriana of Marina and Fredrick Gaddis of Pomona.
This week's show also highlights a few of this year's "Triple" winners. "For one whole dollar, look what I got," said California Gold winner Frank Murray of Penn Valley. Murray's first spin of the wheel landed on the "Triple" spoke which entitled him to triple the amount of his next spin. Murray's next spin of the wheel landed on $60,000 giving him a grand prize total of $180,000.
The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $12 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
