SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, September 2, 2000, in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $147,500.
Store manager, Shiv Ram, bought a "Big Spin" Scratchers® ticket that revealed three SPIN symbols on it. That ticket entitled the Anaheim resident to spin the largest prize wheel in the world. Ram spun the wheel and won $30,000. Ram will invest his prize money to buy his own store.
Retired Director of Finance, Stanley Pinkoski of Concord, was this week's Fantasy 5TM contestant. Pinkoski said he was born lucky and has been lucky all of his life. He also said that he has already fulfilled his dreams so he would like to share his $25,000 prize money with his children.
High Roller contestants won a combined total of $30,000. Blanca Alejandre of Bakersfield won $25,000 and retired postal worker, Ernest Pinola of Santa Rosa, won $5,000.
California Gold contestants won big with a combined total of $62,500. Carlos Molina of Los Angeles was the top winner with $40,000. Molina plans to vacation with his prize money.
The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which include 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
