SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, August 5, 2000 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $322,500.
Silvia Galvan of Azusa will split the $95,000 prize she won, playing the Fantasy 5TM Dream Machine, with her family friend. That's because Galvan's friend bought the winning Fantasy 5 ticket, put her name on it, and mailed it in.
Antioch resident Natercia Gomes plans to travel to Asia and Europe next year with her $70,000 Fantasy 5 win.
"I plan to take my family on vacation to Hawaii," said Clovis resident Rodney White. White won $55,000 at his turn up at the Dream Machine. White also plans to spend some of his prize money on his hobby, radio-controlled airplanes.
Visalia student, Moses Facundo, was the top High Roller game winner with $20,000. Facundo plans to use his prize money to continue his education. Donna Rumaldo of Canoga Park won $5,000.
Lorraine Martinez of Colton won $25,000 as this week's top California Gold winner. Other California Gold contestants won a combined total of $22,500.
"I got it, I really got it," said the excited Dennis Letl after winning $30,000 spinning the largest prize wheel in the world. Letl, a Rescue resident, had just retired in May and planned a trip to Europe with his wife. "This will enhance our trip," said Letl.
The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52.5 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
