SUPERLOTTO PLUS JACKPOT HITS $33 MILLION

SACRAMENTO, August 3, 2000 -- Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto Plus jackpot for Saturday, August 5, 2000, at $33 million. "This is the largest SuperLotto Plus jackpot we've had since the game began," said Lottery Director Joan Wilson. "California is definitely catching a bout of 'Lotto Fever'."

A single jackpot winner of $33 million would receive a cash option of roughly half the jackpot (approximately $16 million) or with 26 annual payments ranging from $820,000 to $1.68 million before taxes. With at least 34% of all Lottery sales going to education, this jackpot will generate more than $14 million for education.

In June 1999, Salvador Gonzalez of Anaheim, California, made Lottery history when he became the record-breaking highest individual jackpot winner of $87 million.

SuperLotto Plus can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
