SUPERLOTTO PLUS JACKPOT ROLLS TO $32 MILLION Winning Tickets Double For SuperLotto Plus Draw

SACRAMENTO, June 8, 2000 --Lottery officials announced that 456,142 winners won in the various categories of Wednesday's first SuperLotto Plus draw--more than twice the number of winners for a jackpot draw of $21 million. The numbers drawn for June 7, 2000 were 02, 04, 11, 15, 28, MEGA 16. No one matched all five numbers plus the MEGA number and that immediately set the jackpot at $32 million for Saturday's draw.

Eight tickets won the second prize category of $21,275 for matching 5 numbers. The first of these winners, Michael Mason claimed his prize in Sacramento. If he had won this prize level on the last draw, he would have won only $1,845.

"What a difference a day makes," said Mason. "I almost hit the 4 out of 5 using the same numbers but now those same numbers are worth more." Mason, a carpet salesman, used family birthdays for his winning numbers. The winner and his wife plan to remodel their bathroom and pay-off debts. The lucky pair had already planned a trip to Tahiti this summer. Mason purchased his ticket at the Vienna Lounge in Rancho Cordova. The other seven tickets that matched five numbers without the MEGA number and also won $21,275 were sold in Artesia, Huntington Beach, San Francisco, Holister, Baker and two were sold in Los Angeles.

Seventy-five tickets won $1,134 by matching four numbers plus the MEGA number. Other prize categories included the following:
  • 2,170 tickets matched four numbers without the MEGA number for a prize of $65.

  • 2,437 tickets matched three numbers plus the MEGA number for a prize of $52;

  • 76,101 tickets matched three numbers without the MEGA number for a prize of eight dollars;

  • 30,332 tickets matched two numbers plus the MEGA number for a prize of $11;

  • 139,710 tickets matched one number plus the MEGA number for a prize of $2;

  • 205,309 tickets matched just the MEGA number for $1.
On April 17, 1991, the largest jackpot in California Lottery history reached $118.8 million and was won by 10 winning tickets and 54 winners. Salvador Gonzalez of Anaheim, California made Lottery history when he became the highest individual jackpot winner of $87 million on June 9, 1999.

SuperLotto Plus can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto Plus draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players may purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
