"Big Spin® 2000" Contestants Win $357,500

SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, April 1, 2000 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $357,500.

"Hawaii is waiting for us," said Azusa resident Carlos Cruz. Cruz won $85,000 playing the Fantasy 5^TM Dream Machine.

Fitness Center owner Nancy Sandoval of San Francisco said, "I'm going to help my family and church then have fun with it." Sandoval was referring to the $65,000 she won playing Fantasy 5^TM.

Another lucky Fantasy 5^TM contestant won $60,000 on this week's show. James W. Kramer of Southgate plans to buy a new car and travel to New York City.

Next up to play the Fantasy 5^TM Dream Machine was Tina E. Mesa of Long Beach. Mesa is a student and proud mother of two boys and two girls. Mesa said she would like to use the $55,000 she won for her children.

Paul L. Anglesey of Fountain Valley will celebrate his 21st birthday with the $40,000 he won as this week's top California Gold contestant. "I'd like to put a down payment on a house and invest the rest," said Anglesey. Other California Gold contestants won a total of $22,500.

Baudelio De Santiago, a care provider from Sunnyvale got 3 "Spin" symbols on a "Big Spin 2000" Scratchers® ticket. That ticket got Santiago a direct trip to the show. Once at the show Santiago spun the largest prize wheel in the world and won $30,000. Santiago plans to put a down payment on a house and take a vacation with the prize money.

The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
