SUPERLOTTO JACKPOT HITS $35 MILLION
SACRAMENTO, February 15, 2000 -- Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto jackpot for Wednesday, February 16, 2000 at $35 million. "It's the highest SuperLotto jackpot of the new millenium," said Lottery Commission Chairman David Rosenberg. "The bigger jackpots boost SuperLotto sales and provide additional revenues to public schools."
In June 1999, Salvador Gonzalez of Anaheim, California made Lottery history when he became the record-breaking highest individual jackpot winner of $87 million. A single jackpot winner of $35 million would receive a cash option of roughly half the jackpot or approximately $17.5 million or with a 26 year annual payment plan ranging from $875,000 to $1.7 million (before taxes) in the final year.
SuperLotto can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the date of the draw.
