Lake Elsinore Woman Wins $1 Million Dollars On "Big Spin® 2000"
SACRAMENTO -- California Lottery's "Big Spin® 2000" show airs Saturday, February 5, 2000 in twelve television markets statewide. Contestants on this week's show won a total of $1,337,500.
Lake Elsinore resident Sheryl Sellmeyer won $1 million dollars on the "Big Spin® 2000" show. Sellmeyer had a winning California Gold Scratchers® ticket with three "TV SHOW" symbols on it, which won her a trip to the show. At the show Sellmeyer, an office manager, won $1 million dollars. "My husband is going to retire," said Sellmeyer. Sellmeyer also said she would like to remodel her house and help out her family. Other California Gold contestants won a combined total of $22,500.
Kevin Finister, a desk clerk from Encino won $100,000 playing the Fantasy 5TM Dream Machine. Finister said he plans to use his prize money for his upcoming wedding and to start a new business.
Shingle Springs resident John Sabatelli said he wanted to put a new roof on his house with the $90,000 prize money he won playing the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine. Gloriadine Harris, a homemaker from Carson won $70,000 playing Fantasy 5 and said, "I want to help my mother out, take my family to Disneyworld and visit New York." Retired Veteran John Merlo Sr. from Westminster said, "I want to save my money for when I get old." Merlo won $25,000 at his turn up at the Fantasy 5 Dream Machine.
Stock person Matthew Mundy of Ventura had bought a winning Scratchers® with three "SPIN" symbols on it which won him a trip to the "Big Spin® 2000" show to spin the prize wheel. Mundy won $30,000 and said, "I want to invest most of it and take a little of it and enjoy myself."
The California Lottery sells its products through a network of more than 18,000 outlets statewide. The Lottery provides 52 percent of its revenues to players as prizes, 34 percent to public schools and 14 percent for administrative expenses, which includes 6.8 percent for retailer commissions. Since 1985, the Lottery has raised more than $11 billion for public schools. The California Lottery's contribution equals approximately 2 percent of the state's total education budget. "Big Spin® 2000" is the longest running Lottery game show in the country, airing continuously since 1985.
