JACKPOT ADVISORY SUPERLOTTO JACKPOT HITS $33 MILLION

SACRAMENTO, July 27, 1999 -- Lottery officials announced the estimated SuperLotto jackpot for Wednesday, July 28, 1999, at $33 million. "Strong sales have raised the jackpot to $33 million," said Lottery Commission Chairman Daniel Apodaca. "California is definitely catching a bout of 'Lotto Fever'."

In June 1999, Salvador Gonzalez of Anaheim, California, made Lottery history when he became the record-breaking highest individual jackpot winner of $87 million. A single jackpot winner of $33 million would receive a cash option of roughly half the jackpot (approximately $16 million) or with a 26 year payment plan ranging from $825,000 to $1.68 million before taxes. With at least 34% of all Lottery sales going to education, this jackpot will generate about $20 million for education.

SuperLotto can be played at more than 18,000 retail business establishments around the state. The SuperLotto draw takes place each Wednesday and Saturday night at 7:58 p.m. Players can purchase tickets until 7:45 p.m. on the night of the draw.
